Scania Family returns to your screens with a fascinating insight into the world of Scania and our loyal marine customers.
While you’ll be familiar with seeing Scania’s trucks transporting goods and materials across the UK, you may not expect to see our engines used in boats and marine vessels from ferries, pleasure crafts and yachts to emergency response boats.
This short docuseries follows Gosport Ferry and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), as they explain how Scania helps to keep their vital services running and why they are proud Scania customers.
Only available via Scania UK’s website and YouTube channel, share in the passion and determination of the people who are constantly striving to keep the UK moving and safe.
A trip along the UK’s Southern coastline
To showcase the diversity of our maritime customers, we take a trip along the coast to see the versatility of our engines in action.
We start off by meeting the team behind Gosport Ferry, who operate in Portsmouth Harbour.
Tasked with transporting up to 6,000 people each day between the commuter town of Gosport and the City of Portsmouth, they provide a critical link that enables ferry users to get to/from work and visit their loved ones.
We hear from Captain Wayne Crawshaw, who tells us how the company’s relationship with Scania over the last 23 years has allowed them to maintain their high standards and provide a reliable service to passengers across one of the busiest harbours.
Next up, we travel West to visit the RNLI in Poole to learn how their Scania powered Shannon Class Lifeboat and Shannon Launch and Recovery System (SLARS) are saving lives at sea around the coast of the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Sam Holliday, Senior Strategic and Operations Partnerships Manager at the RNLI, tells us about the valuable relationship they hold with Scania, and how the durability, reliability and versatility of the Shannon Class allows them to undertake their life saving work.
Scania Power Solutions have and continue to play a part in the RNLI’s rescues since 2013.
This year, we extended our relationship by becoming corporate partners. The special three-year partnership, which was launched on the RNLI’s 200th anniversary, recognises our shared values and will see Scania support the charity’s ongoing operations through fundraising activities.
